Photo Collage Project

Think about our discussion yesterday regarding what we know and need to know about the Great Depression. With a partner, search for images which depict the struggles and realities of that time period. Don't just do a search in Google Images, because you won't find details about the time period with the pictures. You want to be able to have some background information with the pictures. Look for ones that cover a variety of the topics we covered on our list, and even extend your content learning through other photos. Pay attention to the details of the photos, like facial expressions of the subjects, settings and backgrounds, clothing and objects with the subjects, etc.

As you find the photos, save them into your DOCUMENTS folder on your computer. (NOT the DESKTOP.) Organize them by topic they cover, especially if you have more than one picture illustrating the topic.

For your overall collage, use PowerPoint to create a 13 slide presentation. (The first slide should have your names on it and the title of your presentation.) The other 12 slides should be photos, and only photos. Use the "Click to add notes" section of PowerPoint so you can keep track of the content of the picture. When you're finished putting your slide show together, you need to save it. Title it in this manner: your period and the first and last initials of group. Follow this example: Pd1 - JS and SW. After you save it, move it into my dropbox.

During your presentation, you and your partner will need to explain the stories. You might not talk on every slide, especially if you have a few pictures of one topic. (For example, if you have two pictures of families waiting in line for food rations, you don't want to say the same thing for both slides, so you might just talk during one and let us look at the second.)
